Metadata deletion

Metadata deletion feature is intended to allow you to remove metadata from your content or contacts but preserve their values, so that if you are going to restore such metadata in a second time you will be able to retrieve the specific value (if present) that was set on all content or contacts for which such metadata was defined.

Here is how the procedure works in detail. Metadata can be deleted via trash web service of imetadatadefinition; such request will remove the specific metadata definition from all the itags to which it was linked. Specific values of such metadata that were set on content and contacts will not be deleted, but only "hidden", and can be retrieved at any time if the metadata is recovered from trash. Such web service can be invoked only by those users having the specific administrative permission to manage the class on which metadata is defined. Specific parameters to be included in the headers of the request are:

  • clientId: it is the domain name used to access THRON, usually your company name.
  • classificationId: the id of the class on which the specific metadata has been defined.
  • id: it is the id of the specific metadata, it can be retrieved with a list request.

Trashed metadata can be restored at any time with an untrash request by users having the specific administrative permission to manage the class on which metadata was defined. Unless values weren't specifically removed from entities , after the untrash they will be restored for all content and contacts on which they were defined at the moment of trashing. Specific parameters to be included in the headers of the request are:

  • clientId: it is the domain name used to access THRON, usually your company name.
  • classificationId: the id of the class on which the specific metadata has been defined.
  • id: it is the id of the specific metadata, it can be retrieved with a list request.
