In order to create new custom classifications within THRON Intelligence, the following conditions must be fulfilled: A business user must be used, and it needs the appropriate administrative permission to manage content strategy (Permissions are set into Passport within THRON Dashboard); therefore its credentials must be used.

Create a custom classification

THRON comes out-of-the-box with two default classifications which are TARGET and TOPIC. In addition to these two classifications you can create up to 3 custom classifications. In order to do so you must use the webservice insert which is included in the classification package of xintelligence. Mandatory parameters which must be included in the request are:

  1. classificationType: must be set to "CUSTOM" in order to define the type of classification you are creating. Other types are "TARGET" and "TOPIC".
  2. applicableTo: the entity to which the class applies. It can be set to "CONTENT", "USER" or both.
  3. relationType: the kind of relationship between classification and entity. It can be set to "IS" or "INTERESTED". The first identifies a relationship of belonging to the specific classification, the second identifies a relationship of interest to the specific classification. For example if we wanted to create a COUNTRY classification, we might apply it to both content and users but with different relationships: we might want to identify content from a specific country (IS), and users interested in content of a specific country (INTERESTED).

In order to guide users to classify the entities properly you will be able to set a question, whose answer is identified by tags. Each class can be "active" or "inactive". Inactive classifications do not collect statistics.[/tab]

You can test this functionality in our Developer Center.

In the body of the request you can paste the following JSON, replacing required parameters:

    "value": {
        "active": true,
        "classificationType": "CUSTOM",
        "entities": [{
            "active": true,
            "applicableTo": "",
            "question": [{
                "lang": "",
                "label": "",
                "description": ""
            "relationType": ""
        "names": [{
            "lang": "",
            "label": "",
            "description": ""
