Identity Management

Introduction

THRON handles content federation by letting you define how users can access both content and folders, and by introducing roles so you can assign each user their own role in your content strategy workflow. Each role corresponds to a predefined set of Permissions, which regulate the actions that each user is able to perform within the Platform.

Basic user's information

When creating a new user, the Administrator can choose its type. In THRON there are two types of users:

  • Platform Users are users with one or more roles which determine their access to THRON's functions;
  • Guest users are users who access content in read-only and can collaborate only with the Platform User who invited them (they won't be able to see any other user).

All users are created with the following information:

Mandatory

  • Name
  • Surname
  • E-mail address
  • Username
    • Constraints:
      • can not contain “§/$&#<>"?*:\|”
      • can not contain spaces
      • can not start with “_”
      • can not start with “!”
      • max length: 50

Optional

  • Password
    • Constraints:
      • max length: 100
  • Company
  • Mobile phone
  • Language for notifications
  • TimeZone

Groups

In order to easily match company organization (to make access rights management and content distribution easier), THRON allows groups of users to be created. Users can be part of one or more groups and users can also not be part of any group.

In THRON there are two types of groups:

  • Platform users' groups are groups of users who can see each other from the collaboration center and shareboard.
  • Distribution groups are groups that are typically created with the aim of having a list of users to whom content can be quickly shared without the users seeing each other. Both Platform users and guests can be included in this type of group.

Using Platform groups usually allows companies to assign roles or define access rights to specific people (instead of users) miming company roles or units (teams). Platform users who aren’t part of any group won’t be able to see each other unless administrators define specific visibility rights for each user. Groups are defined in a linear way, and it’s not possible to define a hierarchical group structure.

Permissions

Each user or group can have more than one role. The set of permissions will be the sum of the permissions related to each assigned role. If the set of permissions is changed manually, a “Custom” role will be added to the specific user/group.

Available permissions are:
